Booming in the Bust

Austin Community College in 2010 finds itself in good financial shape. And it's looking to expand – big time. If voters approve in Nov­em­ber, ACC could double the number of school districts it serves, annexing Bastrop, Elgin, McDade, Hays Consolidated, and San Marcos Consolidated. To prepare, ACC has negotiated for $35 million in land purchases.
